M.D., PharmD, Ph.D., Licensed Medical Oncologist and Clinical Pharmacologist
Starting out as a pharmacist, Frans Opdam has always been interested in the mechanism of action of anticancer drugs. He has been able to use this knowledge in his current position as a medical oncologist-clinical pharmacologist and as principal investigator of several phase I studies.
Besides his clinical activities, Frans Opdam has been Clinical Assessor for the Medicines Evaluation Board of the European Medicines Agency and has experience with regulatory affairs within EMA.
His areas of interest and knowledge include targeted therapies in oncology, mechanisms of drug resistance, dose finding, drug-drug interaction and ADME studies. He currently serves as Principal Investigator in the Cancer Core Europe network.
Frans Opdam reports that the challenge of his job is to investigate and offer new treatment modalities to all of his patients and to help science a little step further in the goal to cure cancer
