Gerrina Ruiter

M.D., Ph.D., Licensed Pulmonologist specialized in Thoracic Oncology

Gerrina Ruiter started working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a lung specialist in November 2019. After completing her dissertation on Pulmonary Hypertension, her interest in patients with lung cancer grew. She reports that every patient is unique, and finding a personalized treatment option together is one of the most valuable aspects of her job. She decided to completely dedicate herself to the treatment of lung cancer, which resulted in her current position. As member of the Phase 1 studies and Clinical Research group at the Early Drug Development Center of the Netherlands Cancer Institute, she is mainly interested in early drug development for patients with small cell and non-small cell lung cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma. In addition, she is trained in Interventional Bronchoscopy procedures, including rigid bronchoscopy, large airway stenting, endobronchial debulking, as well as endobronchial ultrasound techniques.
