Marleen Noordenbos
Early Clinical Research Physician
Since August 2022 I have been working in the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital as a doctor within the Phase 1 team Clinical Research. Together with our team of oncologists, nurse practitioners and nurses, we take care of the patients who participate in a clinical trial. They are treated in our center with new and experimental drugs. During their treatment, patients have to visit the hospital frequently, resulting in an intensive relationship. Our responsibility is to explain in the best possible way what they can expect during their treatment.
The goal of these trials is to improve cancer treatment. The combination of medical and human aspects together with patient care makes this job unique. Involvement and professionalism of all colleagues at the AVL really stand out for me. Always thinking about possibilities we can give to patients and removing barriers wherever possible in the patient's interest: that is what makes this hospital not only special for patients, but also for employees.
